My Allison #1000 in the M/H says to change the spin on filter every 5K and the internal filter is (SUPPOSED) to last the life of the trans. AND don't forget to exchange that magnet on top of the old spin on filter. That's an E-Z item to miss.

Is it possible that an electrical plug on the trans housing could be soaked in oil and cause a signal failure?

did you check the tranny fluid level?

Gary, our Ally trans in the trucks are 30k (at least my 06 is) for the spin on, and never for the internal pickup. I changed my internal and spin on at the first 30K just to do it.

Doubt it would be a plug issue as they are waterpak plugs, but you never know, but should through a code I would think.

I have read they are very sensitive to being just a little overfull.

I do the spin on around 10k.

Make that "Weatherpak" connectors, and you may be right about the spin on filter intervals. As I read it, the initial change was supposed to take place @ 5K, and I thought it was every 5K after that. Gonna have to pull out the Allison bible, and do a consultation.
