C'mon Jeff,
Don't hold back, sugar coating it never helps.
How do you REALLY feel?

Beyond Jeff's views, we had a bad experience at the 500. Not sure any of us are ready to face it just yet.

Sandman,
With all due respect, and no intent to cause undue grief,
I'm very familiar with the loss that the Hoolies had to endure regarding the 500 race.
I was there when it happened in 2007.
I unexpectedly found myself running relay on the radio with Score-ops, desperately trying to help.
I had not yet even met the Hoolies, and I did not know Chris.
I was just a guy who works the races.

When I came home from that race, I did some research, and learned who he was, and what a Great Man he was, to both his Friends and his Family.
I wish that I had had the oppurtunity to know him, as you all did.

I Certainly, and ABSOLUTELY, do not want to step on any toes here.

It was through a completely unrelated series of events, that I came to know of the Hoolies group.
I knew that when I was invited to be a part of the Hoolies, that it would soon come up.
I struggled with how I would deal with that when the time arose.

As it turned out, The very first time I was invited to share your camp, I was asked by Jozee if I was there when it happened.
I told her I was, and the rest has been covered and understood by most here.

I have worked the 500 and 1000 races for about 8 years now.
I do it with a buddy of mine each year, and he relies on me to be there.
I will continue to go for as long as I can, and will certainly do my part, to the best of my ability, to benefit the safety and healthy return of all who are involved with the races. That's part of my job there.

I only wish I could have done more for Chris.

Rest in Peace Mr. Nibbs,
I sure would have enjoyed sharing a ride with you.
I'll lift a cold brew in your honor.

Sincerly,
Ron

Beautiful Ron. Thank you. I didn't know you where aware... more than aware. Some of us have feelings about Mexico in general like Jeff. Some of us would love to go back down, but emotion gets the better of us. I fall into the latter, and add on the risk I feel is not worth it at this point in my life. I'll stick to racing on this side of the border for now.

At some point, I would love to take my bike down there, and enjoy some of the amazing riding I saw, just not yet.

Good luck down there!
