Hi all,

I've had several calls to cheer me up and I felt bad that I just didn't feel like talking really to anyone right now. Other hooligans have sent some very nice notes, so I felt it best to let everyone know how it's going.

I'd had been basking in the joy of prostate cancer remission for the past 16 years but last week got body slammed with the final pathology from the rectal surgery. Initial biopsy was pre-cancerous, however life keeps throwing curves when the Stanford surgeon called Thursday to advise that that they did find cancer in the lesion that was removed. *I just have to get my head wrapped around this again and deal with it. The doctor thinks she got it all, so no chemotherapy at this time, but lots of active surveillance for any kind of recurrence....... I just need a couple of weeks to get adjusted to the news and hit the ground running again.*After surgery, it has been a difficult balance with using the pain pills as they cause constipation which is my not on my list of happy moments right now.

Marianne and Nick are up to speed with all the events and they can keep you posted until I get my head out of my butt. I remember it took me a while to get over the news from the first cancer diagnosis, but then I got back to my usual self. It will just take a little longer and I want to do all my followup consultations before I make any major decisions. All of you friends are great.

By the way this is not a recurrence of prostate cancer. Both prostate cancer and colorectal cancer are very curable if they are caught early. Please discuss doing a screening for both these cancers with your physician.

And thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. Keep um coming ;- )
