Wouldn't it be easier for California to have a little better job growth whit so many unemployed and the fact that there were so many cutbacks to needed things like road const? I mean they can't continue that way. Sooner or later some of the cut jobs will have to be filled back in.

Also found it interesting when reading about Toyota relocating jobs to Texas and all the right wing hand wringing about people trying to get the hell out of the state of California. An expert was commenting basically saying so what, Ca kicks ass. So I started reading a little bit, turns out in reality CA is one of the leaders in job growth, go figure. By percentage mind you, not just total numbers. That and we have the Sierra's, the coast, the Redwoods and the deserts. Found it highly amusing that some of the states who's residents most want to leave their state did not include Ca, but did include AZ and Nevada. Guess the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the border

Top 10+ cities and surrounding metro areas (1 million or more workers) for non-agricultural job growth, comparing 2013 to 2012:

1. Riverside, Calif. – up 4 percent
2. San Francisco – up 3.9 percent
3. Denver – up 3.6 percent
4. Houston – up 3.5 percent
5. Orlando, Fla. – up 3.2 percent
6. Seattle – up 2.8 percent
7. Phoenix – up 2.7 percent
8. Dallas – up 2.6 percent (four-way tie)
Los Angeles – up 2.6 percent
Miami – up 2.6 percent
San Diego – up 2.6 percent

Top 10 states for non-agricultural job growth, comparing 2013 to 2012:

1. North Dakota – up 3.6 percent
2. Utah – up 3.2 percent
3. California – up 3 percent
4. Colorado – up 2.9 percent (tie)
Texas – up 2.9 percent
6. Nevada – up 2.7 percent
7. Idaho – up 2.6 percent
8. Florida – up 2.5 percent
9. Washington – up 2.2 percent
10. Arizona – up 2.1 percent

This Quote from my link all be it dated 2 years ago shows why people wanted to get the hell out of here.

"California, Florida and Nevada are struggling the most. California is 891,200 jobs under its pre-recession employment total, the nation's worst shortfall in raw numbers. Florida is next with a drop of 725,700. Nevada's five-year decline of 12.5 percent is the biggest fall in percentage terms."

I found this article interesting from June of last year.

http://www.governing.com/blogs/by-th...ion-ended.html

Especially this

California
Net employment change: -487,600 (-3.2%)
June 2013 Employment: 14,648,700
Figures compare 01/2008 jobs to preliminary 06/2013 estimates

Sorry Brother, i am on the other side of this one.

my company is not hiring more employees directly because of the new rules, it puts us in a different bracket.
also, we are "leasing" our New employees, but would you believe the "leasing" Company is placing employees under different categories or "companies" to keep the new taxes lower.

there is more to all of this than just the "Oboma Care" everyone wants to bitch about.

and NO, from a personal side i do not like the choice we are making, but as a Senior Manager, i would not be doing my job if i said NO to saving 18% on our 2nd highest expense (labor) next to Diesel Fuel.
And oh yea, have you all realized that they are going to raise the fuel tax on diesel fuel to pay for all the road repairs that are needed?

Yes that is right, they, the Politicians, have decided to let the mean, dirty Diesel Truck drivers pay for all the road construction. And all of you owners or diesel pick ups and diesel pushers are going to pay along with the companies.

So NO, i honestly do not think the overall job outlook or economy is better

We just had a lay off over over 30 full time employees. A handful had been with the company over 20 years. They are all being replaced with temps....

This happened last Friday and a few yesterday. It was the 3rd lay off we have had in the last 2 months....

I thought Obama had a pbone and a pen to make laws that were going to put Americans back to work. Or were they Central Americans? Where are all these jobs he claims he would put forth. Every year he says " Jobs are his number 1 priority." He has only said that about 19 times now. Oh well at least he is still fundraising.

That's got to add some stress to your life, seems one would be afraid to even take a vacation

So you are using a "leasing" company or PEO to save on labor costs? So their name is on your payroll check and they cover comp, taxes etc? How was there an 18% savings? Is your ex mod high and they saved you the money on comp and maybe they have a lower Sui tax rate? But that would only apply to the first 7k in wages, in CA at least. I don't understand about placing employees under different categories or companies to save on taxes.

Don't get me started on the socialization factor in california Sui tax rates. No matter how I manage my Sui claims I still get lumped in with the other deadbeats.
