Yes it is repub idea. Under clinton I believe. Explain how the mandate makes its less socialistic. When it make everyone buy something to put money into a pool for others. If we already have a gaurenteed help then why does the gov need to mandate everyone to buy into or pay fines. Theres your opt out, pay for or pay a fine. Part of the problem is giving free health to anyone.

Bob...... you missed the point:

Earlier this year, the Obama's administration outlined their plan to ignore a rule that requires illegal immigrants to leave the US before they can then ask the federal government to waive a law that bans them from legally returning here for several years.

While the waiver of this rule is sometimes allowed under current law, it is only applied on a case-by-case basis, not to entire categories of illegal immigrants. But Obama and his administration have bent these established rules by applying them to potentially millions of illegal immigrants.

It blatantly ignores the rule of law that is the foundation of our democracy. This administration’s amnesty policy, expanded once again, not only violates the rule of law, it only benefits illegal immigrants, not Americans, and is a magnet for fraud. Many illegal immigrants will falsely claim they came here as children or are under the age of 30 and the federal government has no way to check whether their claims are true. And once these illegal immigrants are granted deferred action, they can then apply for a work permit, which the administration routinely grants 90 percent of the time. This could put even more US citizens on the unemployment rolls.

It’s said that desperate times call for desperate measures. But in these dismal economic and political times, the Obama administration has called for unlawful measures that grant amnesty to potentially millions of illegal immigrants.

Friday, Janet Napolitano, secretary of Homeland Security, announced immunity from deportation for illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States before they turned 16 and who are younger than 30 – among other criteria. They can apply for a two-year work permit that can be renewed indefinitely.

The decision is not just a breach of faith with the American people. It blatantly ignores the rule of law that is the foundation of our democracy.

In an interview with Univision television earlier this year, President Obama said that he can’t just “waive away the laws that Congress put in place” and that “the president doesn’t have the authority to simply ignore Congress and say, ‘We’re not going to enforce the laws that you’ve passed.’”

But ignore Congress and the Constitution is exactly what the president has done – and this isn’t the first time. Throughout the past three years of his administration, Mr. Obama has waived applying several of our immigration rules and has refused to enforce other immigration laws.

Earlier this year, administration officials at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) outlined their plan to ignore a rule that requires illegal immigrants to leave the US before they can then ask the federal government to waive a law that bans them from legally returning here for several years.

While the waiver of this rule is sometimes allowed under current law, it is only applied on a case-by-case basis, not to entire categories of illegal immigrants. But Obama and his administration have bent these established rules by applying them to potentially millions of illegal immigrants.

And this decision comes on the heels of an even larger plan to reward illegal immigrants. Last year, political appointees at DHS issued new deportation guidelines to target illegal immigrants that have been identified by DHS. That amounts to backdoor amnesty and strikes another blow at the 13 million unemployed American workers.

Under Obama’s deportation policy, DHS officials review all incoming and most pending cases before an immigration court to determine if the illegal immigrant can remain in the US. Since DHS political appointees have made clear that many illegal immigrants are not considered “priorities” for removal, this means that potentially millions of illegal immigrants can remain in the US without a vote of Congress.

The administration’s amnesty policy, expanded once again, not only violates the rule of law, it only benefits illegal immigrants, not Americans, and is a magnet for fraud.

Ignoring Congress and the Constitution may be politically convenient for President Obama, but this huge policy shift has horrible consequences for unemployed Americans looking for jobs. It violates the president’s oath to uphold the laws of this land.

It doesn’t matter how bleak poll numbers are or how low campaign coffers may be, the president of the United States cannot ignore the rule of law.

Wow, that was a long read! I actually think it's you that misses the point Howie, but I can help with that I think. There is no amnesty, there is what is called prosecutorial discretion being applied and you can be sure it's been tested all the way to the supreme court. Here is an analogy of how it works. A CHP sits on the side of the road with his radar detector and watches as motorist pass by. He see's a guy doing 57 mph in a 55 (a young illegal alien child in our analogy) and although the motorist is breaking the law, the CHP uses his prosecutorial discretion to let him pass in hopes of finding the red corvette doing 85 (an illegal felon in our analogy). So you see just like there are more speeders out there than CHP can pull over, we have more illegals than we can deport. I know you guys want to hate Obama so bad it hurts, but what he did makes sense, just like the CHP. The fact it helps preempt a momentum swing with the Hispanic vote if Romney adds Rubio to the ticket is just well played on Obama's part.

I agree with you on almost all that Jeff, we do give way to much free crap to illegals when we should only give them 2 things. 1 is a free bus ride back to their border and the other is medical care. We can agree to disagree on medical care, but in my opinion if a human being is suffering badly in a medical emergency, we should help them regardless in my opinion.

Who the hell do you think pays for the guaranteed help we already have? You, me and every other working stiff. It makes it less Socialist because it requires more people to pay for their own share. We ARE the government, WE pay for it now!

The Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act guarantee's emergency medical care for everyone. This unfunded MANDATE was signed into law by your patron saint Ronald Reagan, who by the way would stand zero chance in today's whacko republican party.

If we continue to keep giving free medical to illegals they will keep coming here and taking it.... Wouldnt you???

If we continue to hire them and skirt the laws to pay them under the table which I saw first hand this last year. They will keep coming.

Are most of them hard workers?? You bet they are - But they are here Illegally!!!

I pay an arm and leg for health coverage each month and Im sure its so high because of all the Illegals that dont pay

How do you think that is fair???

How could you even think that giving them free Medical care is the right thing to do??

If we go to another country should we expect to receive free Medical, Food, and Housing if needed????

I respect your opinions Bob and you can use all your big over educated words and call me a dumb ass but at the end of the day. We as a country have failed and its only getting worse. We need to put a stop to all these free entitlement programs that are over abused. Its fucking you and me.......
