Default Safe Portable RV Propane Heaters

As requested, here is the heater that Bob and I have ordered…… amazing that we both agree on something

I have lots of battery power (6 deep cycle batteries), but I’ve always hated having to run the heater in our rigs and by design, the RV heaters are not the most efficient way to keep your rig warm. When we had the Lance campers, I would always light one of the stove burners at night or when it was cold to keep the interior heated. It worked well as the camper interior was small and there is always enough air ventilation so not to worry about noxious combustion gases killing us, plus 100% of the heat from the flames stayed in the camper.

Now with the larger motor home, I wanted to again get that kind of heating efficiency. Here is an excellent article about which type of propane heater is best for an RV although some of these models show cannot be purchased in California such as the "Blue flame heaters." These indoor propane heaters are almost 100% efficient.

As soon as I get my heater delivered, I’ll let you know how it works. BB might want to add his two cents to this string as he has the Wave-8 heater already working in his rig.

Amazon has the best prices on these units and you can read lots of customer reviews regarding the safety and other aspects of its use.

The model we purchased has the option of being run by those small propane canisters or you can hook it up to any size propane bottle with a separate hose.

I was looking at that heater Howie but I read that people were having issues with them running at high altitudes (Mammoth).
I bought the Wave 6 heater from Art ($50) and use a 5gl tank with it. They are real safe. I ran it all night in Mammoth in the new trailer. Kept inside at about 65 degrees while it was about 35 or 40 outside. Uses very little fuel. Love it!

.....and after seeing Buford's Olympian heater, I also got one, only it's a 6K model, rather than the 8K that he has. I've been using it, connected to a 5 gal propane tank, and it'll last nearly a week.

I'm seriously considering selling it, and go to at least an 8K or larger unit, solely because in sub 40* weather, the best it can do is to keep our rig around 50*, and to do so, it needs to be WFO!!
Gary,
Hopefully this 9000 BTU unit we're buying will heat my 160sf (20'x8') of space in our 28' motorhome. We always close the bedroom door and never heat it.

I read that in several places, but it seems that the threshold is at 9000 feet and above. These were from customer product reviews and posts on camping sites, all be it anecdotal reports.

The one I ordered was cheap enough ($81) for what I need and if it doesn't work at Mammoth I'll get another product.

No shit... well other than Hot Rods, Chevy Trucks, Toy Haulers, Suzuki King Quads, Can Am Commanders, Lance Campers, Itasca Motorhomes, Family, Camping and pretty much everything else not politic...

Curious how long the heater will run on the tiny camp bottles? Bought mine to use in case we put someone in the trailer with an air mattress at KOH. Will probably use in the coach as well though since that seems popular. Heater in the MH seems pretty loud, not sure yet on propane usage...
