New law regarding UTVs

A friend of mine sent me this, apparently CA has passed a new law requiring all passengers of UTVs wear a helmet, be in a seating location that the manufacturer designed, wear a seat belt / harness, and be able to reach a handhold with their feet on the floor and seat belt properly adjusted. I can take the bench out of my RZR4 and put the buckets back, but there is no way my 4 year old daughters' feet are going to reach the floor. Really going to screw the Rhino people with seats in the bed though, as well as an entire industry that custom builds them.

most seats look like they were meant to be there, tell the authorities that pull you over to prove that they are not manufactorer designed. As for the floor, raise the floor, doesn't say they can't be modified.

What if they are dealer installed? Can you take them back to the dealer for a refund, isn't dealer installed equipment basically the same as factory? It is for cars.

Does rugged radio make a helmet setup because the headsets will be useless, unless your playing video games in your basement.

This may sound crazy but Im all for the new rules about four seaters. We have been moving away from them for awhile and now we are officially done with four seat cages for the Rhino and Teryx (we never offered one for the commander)

Wow - from a guy who made a living selling 4 seaters for the last few years....

Hey Derwud curious to what you have to say about this??? I know you have one of the nicest Rhino builds Ive ever seen but you are kinda fucked now like me.....

I think those groups are trying to figure out what happened.
I think everyone is in shock because no one saw this coming. I cant believe it was an unanimous vote, Alot of dick sucking happening in Sacramento.

Not true, all the major manufacturers were behind this, Kawasaki as itself and the rest as part of a UTV manufacturer organization. I think it sucks, but better than a ban I suppose... We ain't taking the 4 seat cage off our Commander nor will we stop selling it as a kit <_<
