Just bought my new toy for the street.
The Mert Lawwill Street Tracker. Mert was National Grand Champion in 1969 while riding for the Harley Davidson factory. He was profiled in the iconic 1971 movie "On any Sunday"
These machines were limited to 20 units but is believed that 19 were actually produced. This is #11. Design and fabrication were and are unparalleled. The concept was to recreate an updated improved version of the HD XR-750 Mert campaigned.
A completely new frame was fabricated from Chrome Molly 4130 for lightness and strength along with his patterned 6016-T6 DUAL aluminum (double sided) swing arm suspension with a single Penske shock.
To make room for the shock a custom oversize oil tanks was fabricated on a side mount. Only the frame mounts and original VIN #s were saved so it could be registered. Gauges and turn signals make it street legal. Lawwilll custom design heads and cams allow for dual carbs on the right and exhausts on left as was the competition XR-750. Screaming Eagle ignition was also fitted. 1400cc kit. Buell forks w/ Brembo brakes. Excel wire rims and more. Mert has hand signed the tank.
